Duncan Heywood is a nationally certified and New York state licensed massage therapist. A highly intuitive and gifted bodyworker, he began his journey as a healing artist over 20 years ago upon completing the clairvoyant training program at the Berkeley Psychic Institute in Berkeley California. That would mark the start of a long journey of growth and learning, picking up certifications along the way in Acupressure, Reiki, Shiatsu, Lomi Lomi, Hypnotherapy and Yoga teacher training, among others.
Duncan has a deep understanding of the multi-dimensional nature of the human experience and with each session creates a sacred space for the potential for true healing and transformation to occur. Having moved from California to the Catskill mountains just over a decade ago, Duncan has found his home in the northeast and counts his blessings daily as he continues to grow and evolve in this beautiful environment. When not engaged in his passion of work, he can be found hiking around the local mountains, finding swimming holes in the cold water creeks with his 9 year old son.
“I wanted to write about my massage today with Duncan. Actually let me correct myself by saying my experience with Duncan which felt more like a treatment than a massage. It was extremely therapeutic, specifically because I am in physical therapy right now for some severe neck pain I’m experiencing from a non-injury. Duncan connected with my body in a way that I feel is a gift. When he was finished with my treatment my neck felt 100% better. He has certainly chosen the right field. Although when I said that to him, he responded “I didn’t chose this field, I’m happy it chose me”. Well, I am too! Thank you Duncan for taking my pain away and being such an outstanding professional!!” Very Truly, Christina H
“Loved Menla and all the experiences they offer… I attended morning yoga with different instructors who were excellent and fully over indulged with the veggie buffet with gluten-free and vegan options. Many fresh greens from the organic on-site garden. Delicious!”
“I honestly can’t say enough good things about this space, the land, the facilities, the staff, the stewards, their events. I will never forget this place and hope to come back. Forever grateful for such beautiful blessings!”
“Really enjoyed my time at Menla. It’s amazingly peaceful and quiet, the people are incredibly nice and approachable, the humility of the Dalai Lama permeates throughout the place. The accommodations are nice and the food is great.”
